Since 1966, the HBG longwave transmitter in Prangins
Switzerland has diffused at 75 kHz the official time signals
synchronised to UTC (Universal Time Coordinated). In
addition to second pulses, coded information giving the time
of day and the date are also sent. The precise carrier
frequency of 75 kHz, synchronised by an atomic clock, and
the time markers, can be used for the verification of
frequency standards and time control purposes.
